NOTICE

Beginning July 26, 2025, all structures 200 square feet or larger deemed to be agriculturally exempt by the Wayne County Building Department will need to complete a Construction Application for Permit (CAP) in the Wayne Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) office.  Although there will be no CAP fee or stormwater practices required, all applicable approvals from other Wayne County Offices and Departments will be required for CAP approval and approval of the Building Department’s Agricultural Exemption form.  CAP forms are available in the Wayne SWCD office and on their website at https://www.wayneswcd.org/home/storm-water-management.  Please feel free to contact Wayne SWCD at (330) 263-5376 if you have any questions.

The Building Codes office is pleased to offer several county permit and license applications online.  Please download (or fill out the .pdf), print, and return to the appropriate department.  If your permit or license is not offered online, please contact the appropriate office to obtain the application.   |  Adobe Reader may be required to view/edit these .PDF Documents.

Procedure for Residential, Commercial and Agricultural exemption permits

STEP 1

Building Code Department – Lower Level of Admin Building  |  (330) 287-5525

  • Drop off plansPlease include a contact phone number in the body of all electronic communications

STEP 2

MAP Office – Main Level of Co. Admin Building – (330) 287-5495

  • Pick up address slip if it’s a new address

STEP 3

Wayne Soil & Water Conservation District – Lower Level of Admin Building | (330) 263-5376

  • Fill out the CAP (Construction Application for Permit)

STEP 4

Health Department / Environmental – Lower Level of Admin Building | (330) 264-

  • Septic System Review  (Signs CAP, if applicable)

STEP 5

Planning Department – Lower Level of Admin Building | (330)

  • Obtain Floodplain Permit  (Signs CAP, if applicable)

STEP 6

County Engineer’s Office – Located at 3151 W. Old Lincoln Way, Wooster

  • Obtain drive pipe permit  (for a new drive or other work onto a county road right-of-way)  (Signs CAP, if applicable)

STEP 7

Wayne Soil & Water Conservation District – Lower Level of Admin Building | (330) 263-5376

  • Final Signature on CAP

STEP 8

Building Code Department –Lower Level of Admin Building  |  (330) 287-5525

  • Take copy of approved CAP (and floodplain permit)
