What is the Summer Youth employment program?
Summer program for youth to gain valuable work experience while earning a paycheck.
Who is eligible to participate?
You must be:
Between ages of 14-18 and attending high school. If 18, must provide a current high school registration or current grade card.
A resident of Wayne County
At or below Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) eligibility guidelines (see TANF Eligibility Section on Application for guidelines)
How long is the program?
The program operates from May 1, 2021, to September 30, 2021.
How much does it pay?
The rate of pay is $10.00/hour.
What do I need to do to apply?
Complete the attached application and submit it to Goodwill Industries of Wayne and Holmes Counties via email to email@example.com or drop it off at Goodwill Industries, 1034 Nold Avenue, Wooster Ohio 44691.
Eligibility must be documented. Wayne County Department of Job and Family Services (WCDJFS) will determine program eligibility. If eligibility documentation is needed, WCDJFS will contact the parent/guardian. An example of documentation that may be requested:
Proof of Income
If Parent/Guardian is employed: 30 days most recent pay stubs, or W2 from 2020.
If you receive workers compensation or unemployment benefit: you will need to submit the award letter.
If you do not have any income: you must show proof of how you support yourself and your family (cash assistance, social security benefits, child support, etc.)
Youth’s Proof of Identity and Residence
Your child’s Birth Certificate
Your child’s Social Security Card
Proof of relationship between you and your child (example: birth certificate with your name and your child’s name on it, school records or current custody papers)
If your child is 18 years old:
Copy of current report card or proof of current year registration.
Required Documents for Other Family Members: we may need to add other family members who live in your household to the application. In this situation, you may be asked to provide the following: Other minor children in your family
Additional child’s Birth Certificates
Additional child’s Social Security Numbers
Proof of relationship
Other Adults in your household
If other adult’s work: 30 days current pay stubs, or W2 from 2020
Date of birth
Social Security Number
IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE, STUDENTS MUST HAVE A BANK ACCOUNT AND PROVIDE A WORK PERMIT.
When do I need to apply by?
Applications are due on or before April 16th.
How will I know if I am selected?
Goodwill Industries of Wayne and Holmes Counties will contact you during the week of April 26th. Please mark your calendar to attend an Orientation session. Goodwill will provide this information once the student has been accepted into the program.
