Probation
The staff of the Probation Department conducts presentence investigations to assist the judges in the determination of appropriate sentences. The department monitors the probationers compliance with their probation terms and conditions such as, court ordered counseling treatment, community service, and drug testing. The probation officers refer probationers to various agencies for these purposes. When warranted the probation officers initiate a probation violation proceeding which could result in incarceration.
